Oh gosh, I'm addicted to my chickens I kind of thought I was weird until I looked online and saw how many others are just as addicted. I worked as a dental technician for a few years and was blessed to be with a hubby that let me stay home with our 2 dogs. At the time, that's all we had. We moved out to the rural country on 20 acres and lived here for a good couple years when hubby decided he wanted chickens. I was against it, at first. I said, if you can build a predator proof coop, you can have your chickens. I didn't want to see dead chickens all around! So he did and he also had to build me another coop so I could keep a roo and just one more coop so I could keep one more roo! Now, chickens are my everything! My daddy passed away suddenly and unexpectedly from cancer and y'all so many days I just don't want to move from my bed but I know our lab dog sleeping beside me wants breakfast and our chickens want their "Mama" to come play and they have motivated me on the days I have felt so sad I could turn gray from the cloud hanging over me. Not that my husband doesn't bring me joy lol, this sounds awful don't it lol!!! Y'all chicken people know what I mean. I plan to keep on being my ole hillbilly tom boy self that treats chickens better than some people treat other people for as long as my body and mind will allow. And I also have terrible arthritis in both knees, bone on bone. It's horrible but those chickens of ours make me move and go which in the long run helps. I'm 43 but my orthopedic doctor says my knees are in their 60's, ugh! I believe everyone could use a couple chickens in their life, they change you....for the best.
