We did the same as farmer-lew...caulked all seams and used "Kilz Siding, Fence, & Barn Paint" (outside only). We've had it up for about a year now and there are no signs of moisture damage so far.

I don't know why I get discouraged if I don't get more...I've collected 133 eggs this month (average 9+ per day), which is FAR more than we need.

We built a ladder-type roost for our coop that's hinged onto the wall at the top so we can life it out of the way when needed. It took my flock about two weeks before they all started roosting.
