Once you get them out you can do this. I just read it in an article:
Some people leave a radio playing all day and night, something soft you don’t need to subject your hens to heavy metal! The sounds will deter them from entering.
Many folks hang Christmas lights around the coop and run...

Primarily, their hunting skills extend to bugs, slugs beetles, small rodents, and road kill – they are scavengers, part of Mother Natures’ clean-up crew.
They are opportunistic omnivores who will eat just about anything including your tasty trash, yummy compost piles, and other such delicacies...
I believe you can have a rooster anywhere but not inside the city boundary. You need to live away from the city. Most cities do not allow you to have roosters.
Thats a good question. I also don't use pellets but I do use pine shavings. Once I notice that there is more poo than pine shavings I cover it up again with pine shavings. I have never shoveled it out or mixed it up. It really is a good mix for compost (poo and shavings) as one is green and the...
I think that is the way of roosters. Mine was very sweet and friendly before he went though "puberty". Then suddenly he was no longer my new best friend and just did his job which is to protect the hens. I think it is normal unfortunately
I would think about their age...my first batch gradually stopped laying around 2 years or so.
I also would think about do you leave the coop open while they free range? (I found out my dog was getting in the coop while they free ranged and was getting eggs).

Yes the egg song is quite different from chicken to chicken...some are almost pleasant sounding while others sound like they are fighting for their life....but it seems one thing is evident from the chickens I have had is that all the girls join in at some point much to the neighbors "surprise".
I let my flock out of coop but still in run at dawn. I like to make sure they get plenty of feed and water and I like to make sure they lay in their nest boxes and not somewhere else in the yard. They tend to lay in the morning. At about noon, I let them into the back yard to forage and have...
I got my first 6 chicks during COVID, 2019. And today I have a batch that are 4 weeks old. My first batch consisted of barred rocks and RI reds. This time I have barneveld (barnies) and reds.
Mine are 4 weeks old and I took them out to the heated coop this morning. It's about 72 to 75 degrees. I keep the small windows closed at night but--weather permitting--slightly open them during the day. The coop has a cupola on the roof that allows some air to circulate. They seem very happy to...
