Why is our eggs not totally forming?

Include oyster shells in the feed. This will help the toughness of the shell. Had a few soft eggs before I got smart.

**Digging my way to the coop. GOT SNOW?**

Here we have gotten many inches but followed by warm trends that take some snow but then makes ice. Right now I have 2.5 acres of ice rink. The only area for my chicks is what is covered. It is funny to see some chicks ice skate.

Who had chicken from their own raising today??

We put the chicken in a slow cooker for the day. My wife is amazed by how little grease is left compared to store bought ones. Plan to raise around 50 this next year.

How Tall are Buf Oprington adults?

I have 3 hens and a rooster that are one year old. When their heads are up high they are maybe about 16" to 18" high and about 12" to 14" high if you measured to the back. These are averages cause one hen is big compared to the other two. Hope this helps.

    Love that Montana weather

The wild critters don't bother me. My biggest issue is the neighbor dog which decides to visit. The theory is this dog cost me my first three chickens. I have learned that a tarp over part of your run will stop most flying birds who want to do more than talk with the chickens. Burying wire...

    Love that Montana weather

You will do fine in the area. I live in Florence and have not had a problem with my chicks being in a unheated detached garage. Cold nights, I will have to confess, there are two heat lamps for the chicks. Only thing I am itching for is the day I can give them some time out on the lawn for...

    silkies coop question

I have three Silkies in a 4x4 coop that used to be a playhouse. With the size of them, I would not have a problem going up to 6 Silkies. When they roost together it seems I only have two full size chickens in there. Hope this helps from a beginner.

    Living with the predator.......

I am new to the raising of chickens. My flock of three were either killed or chased off by my coon dog. I have chosen to get rid of the dog and get more chickens. I feel your "dread" sense when the dogs look at the flock.

    Montana

Awesome buy at Quality. I would loose my chicken license here if I even thought of getting chicks right now. The wife is liking the chickens so the fever has started.
