yep they are silkies, sometimes its half shipped, half mine, sometimes its mostly shipped, sometimes its all my stuff. I have been hatching every 4 weeks since last September. So thats about 13 hatches. I have tried everyones ideas with humidity. I usually do a dry hatch too. My last group was...
I am considering trying out a Brinsea, since my hatches STINK. I`m starting out small, (so hubby doesn`t freak out) and considering a Mini Brinsea... has anyone use one really often and what is your hatch rate. Mine is less then 20%. Or should I just move up to a bigger bator? I would rather...
OH BOY another one is out... but the bought eggs are still sleeping. Maybe they need more time in the oven... keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks everyone!
I use a Brinsea spot check for my temps, and thats how I calibrated my incubator. My bator is in my kitchen and I check the temps constantly. I have to say even if others have problems this bator is constant with its temps. I never have to worry. Plus I have a digital hygrometer for cigars and...

Ok I am sick over this. (I know you all know the feeling) Waited 3 weeks, today is the day..... 1 egg cracked an X last night, that X is not one speck different today, over 15 hours later.... sighhhhhhh, this morning I see a second egg with a TINY X. But not one egg is rolling, not one egg is...
i need help. I hatched out this chick about 4 months ago from an egg I purchased. Since the day it was hatched it had what some call pastey butt. I always had to clean his vent every couple of days. I tried antibiotics, expensive natural yogurt, ACV. It was raised on medicated chick starter. The...
Just yesterday a hawk decided to go into my big fenced chicken pen, killed a beautiful silkie. Then walked right into my chicken coop (which is in my barn!!, Its a converted double horse stall) and hung out with the rest of the silkies.... I was horrified to say the least. When that big bird...
I have a suggestion. How about getting a timer? I have one in mine that turns the lights on earlier. But you could do the same thing and have the heat lamp turn on at a set time and go off when you want it.
OH darn, darn, darn!!! Sorry you lost her. Make sure you keep up with the Corid with the rest of your guys, Coccidia is a killer. You have to keep on your toes and watch for signs. Good luck, everyone else should be ok if you give your Corid to them.
Is there a chance she may have coccidia? If you haven`t given Corid lately I would give that a try if it was my chicken. She may be so wobbly because of lack of nutrition, I`m just grasping at straws. But I`d figure that if its coccidia, then shes not getting what she needs from her feed. Good...
