    Speckled Sussex!

I LOVE my speckled sussex! She is my favorite by far. She follows me everywhere and "talks" to me and hangs out with my Beagles too. My husband is always saying she thinks she is a dog ;) I would say to describe her personality it would be VERY curious and friendly.

    sprained foot?

Is she falling back when she is walking?...kinda like she is sitting? I checked my leghorn the other day because I'm having the same problem with my hen. She gets around okay and is eating/drinking fine (just like yours), but she doesn't move as much as the others. Bottom of her feet are...

    Easter Egger laying white eggs?

Hey! I was wrong! I guess the other egg was from one of my leghorns. I found this in my garden this morning :) I guess she was in the nesting box for a long time but decided she like the garden to lay better. Beautiful, huh?

No, I already used it (hehe).....I made peanut butter cookies. It was white like my leghorns. I practically saw her lay it though so I know it was her. ??????

    Clipping wings because of garden

My roosts are about 3 1/2 feet. I think I will try to clip just one side this year and see how it goes. I don't think my Easter Egger and Speckled Sussex will be able to still fly over my garden fence but those leghorns might be able to! I want to start taking out some of my compost and...

    Clipping wings because of garden

Well.....I can't seem to keep my chickens out of my garden. I have a garden fence and they just fly right over it! I guess I'll have to clip their wings. My question is if I clip their wings, will they have a hard time flying up to their roosts in the hen house? Has anyone else has this problem?

    Eggs from roost......SPLAT!

Okay, my leghorns have just started laying their first couple of eggs. The last two I found on the hen house floor smashed because you can tell she laid them from the roost. Has anyone else had this problem??? Pleassse tell me she is just figuring it out and it will go away

Fifteen weeks old and waiting for eggs. Who is with me?

Yup, mine are 17 weeks old and I'm waiting for that first egg. I have some leghorns so I'm hoping that I won't have to wait too long I can't wait to start using them. It's good to know that the black australorps will be a little later. I've heard that when they start going though, you get...
