    Jungle Fowl

My cousin trapped a dozen jungle fowl in his yard and gave them to me to put on my 15 acres. I kept them in a 10X10 pen for a couple of weeks and then released them in the yard. They seem to be doing quite well and seem to love the thick vines and bushes behind the house. We sit on the back...

    Roast Beef?

i'm seeing a lot of questions on whether it would be a good idea to feed chickens this or that. now, on one hand, commercial grains and feeds have been drastically modified and improved, especially for the development and growth of commercially-raised chickens. my neighbor, for instance...

SOME OF THE FORUM THREADS HAVE PROVIDED SOME GREAT INSIGHT INTO USING THE WATER NIPPLES BUT I STILL HAVE A COUPLE OF QUESTIONS...

how should I attach the 1/2" hardware cloth?

I have used the small u-shaped fence staples for years and they actually work quite well. I would offer a word of caution, though. You say that you will squeeze the staple so that the points are a little more parallel? This, to some extent, may make it a little easier to nail in but when you...

    Coop Ideas

I'm really enjoying this learning curve I'm going through with this project. You've given me some great ideas and information. I've changed my mind about building nesting boxes with outside access. It will be much more practical to use simple-made nests and just place them inside the...

    Coop Ideas

I really haven't decided on how many or what variety of chicken yet, but I'm thinking no fewer than 10 and no more than 20, probably closer to 10. Not having to build nesting boxes will save me a lot of work and will simplify finishing the coop. I didn't even think about injuries to the...

The Coop is 75% done.......PIC HEAVY!!

Could you use some clear silicone caulking to cover the wrong holes. Silicone is very resilient and lasts for years, and if applied gently will not look bad either.
