Help - Omlet Eglu owners - how to ventilate the roost?

Thanks for the kind words. When we first got the girls, I had small Omelet run set up and temporary bigger run around that while I figured out what the permanent build would need. Lots and lots and lots of reading on what worked and did not work, so I made my own plans. Sorry it is paper copy...

You are very right and I had the same thoughts about the Cube. So build the run with thoughts of protection from climate in Wisconsin. Open 3/4 of the year and closed up with polycarbonate sheets for the winter. Here are few pics of the Cube inside the cover part of the "run".

Help - Omlet Eglu owners - how to ventilate the roost?

Interesting, over a year now and my gals have had temps near 100 and -15 oF and they have done awesome. I have sensor in and area the coop, plus cameras... these are well watched BO chickens. We only have 4, I would not choice anything else.

Help - Omlet Eglu owners - how to ventilate the roost?

Ok , thought I update this post with my fan addition. Note the fan is connected to a temp controller (turns on at 80oF) and blows out of one the of top vents. Also on hotter days we pull the "poop tray" from the bottom to aid with air flow. Hope the pictures helps.

Help - Omlet Eglu owners - how to ventilate the roost?

Another thing my Cube has good ventilation. For a year now I have sensors for temp & humidity (inside and outside) and very please with the results. The new fan will be more for my wife than the chickens but I am sure they like a "breeze" on some hot nights.

What temperature does is too cold at night? When to add heat lamp and door on coop?

Sooooo I must confess the coop has three temp probes. 1 in the camera, location is upper part near roof 2 hanging in the nest area (this measures humidity too) 3 is a probe hanging by the roosting area. This is attached to a controller that could regulate a heater like a sweeter heater or...

Thanks for your reply and information. Struggle with this and University Minnesota usual has done it's research before publication...just a huge gap from what most say on this form and those requirements.
