Hi. I am Sissy W and I am brand new to this site and don't have a chicken yard, a coop or a chicken yet. I retired in December after working for the Army for about 10 years as a clinical social worker focusing on working with new recruits and part of the time with service members who had been in combat. I loved it and I think that God put me there for the time, but I am beginning to be very excited about self sufficiency. I have a ton of seeds, I am putting in vegetables and flowers and herbs. Today I learned how to make vanilla extract and other flavoring. I live in a small town and don't have a large lot, but am learning how to make the most of what I have. I am thinking about setting up aquaponics in the garage too so that I will have fresh vegetables year round. I worried for a year or so about being retired and without a goal No more! I love animals, I love my home, I love God and I have decided that I am so much better off than a lot of people in this world. I have many things to be grateful for. I really have fallen for the Easter Eggers too. Blue eggs! Who knew? God bless you all and stay safe!
