Thanks @Matejka Ideal is where I got my runners. They only deal in African and Chinese, which are too aggressive for us. I want people to come to our house at some point! I tried to find the other place listed there, but couldn't. I may try calling them, though. We've had really bad...

I've traveled, believe me. I drove 3 hours to get 2 runner ducklings a year ago. So I am willing, if it means getting the bird I want.

    Constant quacking..?

Yeah, my other ducks kind of just walk by like... um, what? Occasionally my runner drake will look up at the sky, as if to check and make sure, but he is usually the one who sees everything and alerts everyone to aerial issues.

Looking for Embden or American Buff, or mix goslings. I have been trying to google search buying them somewhere close to San Antonio, but it seems inpossible. Is there some secret way to google search these geese? Or maybe they aren't popular in Texas? We want to get a female gosling to raise...

    Constant quacking..?

Once in a while, my female runner, Storm, goes into alert mode. I have yet figured out why. But, that is what it sounds like your Duchess is doing. She will just start doing this call, and do it for several minutes. I don't know why. I will walk out, talk to her and the others will just...

Looking for embden or buff young

Is there some secret way to google search these geese? Or maybe they aren't popular in Texas? We want to get a female gosling to raise with our ducks for when we move into the country as a guardian/alert companion. But when I search for "embden" or "buff" geese in Texas, I get nothing, or I...

    Ornery Muscovy female

We used to have wooden eggs and those worked for a while, but then... they disappeared. I have no idea where they went. Maybe we need to get some more of those. Thanks for the reminder!

    Ornery Muscovy female

Karen. 🤣 We have a duck house for laying in. Salt will use it, then not. After two rounds of eggs poaching, she moves to the next spot. Rinse, repeat. She will just set up shop at a new place. Get moody, chase and bite. I guess there isn't anything to be done. Pepa doesn't seem to give 2...

Any tips for someone new to raising ducklings?

Since muscovies are larger than other ducks, they will grow larger faster. Be prepared for that. I think ours looked like everyone else until about 6 weeks of age, and then it's like they exploded and doubled in size over night and dominated the box. The niacin issue is the biggest thing...

    All flock pellets for ducks???

We feed DuMor All Flock from Tractor Supply to our ducks. They eat it up like its the best food on the planet. My girls lay super great eggs. The males are strong. Everyone is super healthy. I have no issues with it. I did the research and it has everything ducks need, down to the niacin...

    Teeny the Duckling possible treats?

When ours were babies, we didn't start treats until we had them swimming in the tub. Until then, we just did the baby duck food, water and yeast. But once in the tub, we chopped up lettuce, blueberries and peas for swim time treats to encourage them to swim and dive and search. They loved it...

    Ornery Muscovy female

Maybe there is nothing I can do about this. I have one Scovy female who, when she begin the whole laying eggs thing, become broadzilla. Her name is Salt, but because she has a white head, whereas her sister, Pepa, has a brown head. But, during nesting time, becomes Salty. She usually picks...

    Three ducks adopted me

Our feather babies are partial to sliced grape tomatoes and romaine lettuce and peas. The more you spend time with them the better. They are very very routine creatures. For example, they hated our winter beanies! We had to take them off to visit! Weird, I know. They get worms as a rewards...

    Guard geese for ducks

We really want an American Buff, but are having trouble locating one around here (San Antonio). And I am NOT doing the mail order thing. One of the things I am also unsure about is that our ducks are already adults. We don't want to get any more ducks, so if we get a juvenile goose to grow up...
