Thanks, JaeG - it seriously sucked. But yesterday was a banner day, I got 4 bantam chicks and 2 turkey poults and everyone is happily growing up in my newly extended coop as of this morning. They are all sexed pullets, so I shouldn't have to ask the question again. Breeder will take them back if...
Thanks all - I am so sorry to hear that y'all think they are both cockerels. The red one was killed this weekend by a stray dog that got onto my property and through 2 fences, but I continue to hope with the cochin (who hid in the coop and escaped the slaughter).
No crowing, just started...
This little frizzle cochin got a tiny comb and little wattles about 3 weeks ago. But it's not as large as it could be. Please tell me it's a hen?! The color is pretty true.
Then there's this other little cochin (bottom right) - her comb and tiny wattles are pink, but these two have more...
I posted one here with pics. Hope you can help!

My babies are going on six weeks and moving out to the coop soon, but since I had six straight-run bantams I'd like to hear gueses on gender. Also, I had that one that looked like a chipmunk in chickhood, and now has some pretty defining feathers. Maybe someone can tell me finally what he or she...
Yes, I thought about that for the brooder, although not the coop. The heat lamp thing just scares me so much! They'll all be at least 4 weeks when I need to move them to somewhere else because we're having guests in the room they're in. I can move them elsewhere in the house, but it would be...
Hi, all,
I got all my chicks at TSC and some are two weeks old today (GSL, Cuckoo Marans, one bantam Cochin) vs some that are probably 4 weeks based on their feathers (4 Frizzle bantam Cochins, one Welsummer or Phoenix or something that looked like a chipmunk). I am basing the age of 4 weeks...
We used 1" x 1" plastic fencing in a bamboo frame (I just wove bamboo through the edges to keep it straight then taped it off. Easy-peasy to handle, no hardware cloth!
I have a chick just like #2 and the guesses have been OEGB, Welsummer and Japanese Phoenix. From the pictures I have seen searching the web, I'd guess Phoenix, but I really know nothing. It's just that the markings are so crisp!
All Bantams. I think the first one is a Japanese Phoenix or a Welsummer, but have no idea about the next two. To be clear, in the last picture I am asking about the one on the right, which is 1/3 to 1/2 the size of the 4-day old Red Sex Link on the left, although it has a lot of feathers...
