    Welcome! Hope everything works out! And I also recommend ALOT of ventilation points in your coop. You can always close them up if its too much, but too little can be a bad thing.

    The pen or run, is outside, where they can peck and scratch, we keep their food and water out in our pen. The coop is where they sleep at night and once they are used to it, they will go in there on their own at night. You will need about 1 box for every 3 hens. Just to be on the safe side we...

My chickens will only use one at a time though, we have four hens, and two nesting boxes next to each other, but while one hen is in a box, another one that wants in will just sit outside the coop (they are free range) and squawk, they won't use both...

    It could be tight, you have to make sure you have a lot of roosting space.

    Hello From Texas!!!!!

    My name is Matthew and i am 17. This is my families first year having chickens, we got them as a couple day old chicks for easter, 2 Cornish rocks (hen and rooster) and 4 leghorn hens. A very fun experience, we have really nice pets and some amazing eggs!! i cant believe the difference in taste...
  8. looking into the run towards the ramp and coop..that green hose is a mister hose to help with the texas heat (they take the temperature in the summer from the regular 100 deg. to around 85 within the 3-4 foot radius) and the chickens are misted throughout the day since its summer and im out of school. yes, our chickens are spoiled. lol. you can see the right side of the pen is wet and the Cornish rocks love to lay in the wet dirt, they are always dirty.

  10. the run/pen with clear roofing for adequate sun (we built this before the chicks were bigger (duh) so we weren't sure if we they would be free range, but they are now.) and yes, that is a fan..they have 2 fans along with misters (why the ground is wet), a lunch bag ice pack in the water, and save-a-chick regularly..SPOILED!!
