I have a gold laced wyandotte chick that is always eating and always acting starved but not growing. She is now 5 weeks old. I am including a picture of her with a barred rock that hatched the same day. Any advice??
Thank you so much for the advice! The egg that pipped the longest ago (25+ hours) is a turken and last time I had only one turken egg in my batch and he was the only one to die mid-hatch, almost fully zipped. It happened in the middle of the night and now I’m paranoid about my 3 turken eggs! I...
I have 8 eggs in my incubator, we are now on day 22. My first chick hatched yesterday, 26 hours after pip. 4 more have pipped but 2 of those are nearing 24 hours. This is only my second time incubating and last time they were all much shorter from pip to hatch. What is going on? How long should...
Would this be the case even if (s)he is half bantam leghorn? I thought their combs grow in earlier because they are so prominent. Does the color look like a roo?
I am stumped on this chicks gender. My best guess is that she’s a bantam cochin/white leghorn. She has a very similar body shape to my bantam white leghorn but feathered legs-although not heavily feathered cochin legs. Her comb is quite large but at 7 weeks it still seems quite pale. Does large...
I’m thinking this 6-week old is a Bantam Cochin/ White Leghorn. She has a similar body shape to my bantam white leghorn but lightly feathered legs. Unless someone has another idea? Any thoughts on gender?
Is there any chance at all that this sweet 7 week old bantam white leghorn is not a rooster? We aren’t allowed to keep roosters and think I need to rehome him before we get any more attached. Anyone have pictures of adult Bantam White Leghorns??
Any guesses about these 4-5 week d’uccles? I’m pretty confident 1 & 3 are roos. What about 2? Comb is noticeably smaller and not pink like the others but should it be that large at 5 weeks? Thank you!
Do bantam cochins have more feathers on their legs than this? My standard cochins that hatched at the same time have crazy-heavily feathered feet and legs.
I incubated some eggs that were sold as silkie eggs, clearly mis-labeled. Any thoughts on this one? I thought calico bantam cochin because I know she had those and the legs are feathered but not heavily. She also had Seramas and other bantams. Any thought? Also wondering if anyone has insight...
