Neurological, dislocation, or? Need help with chick please!

Giving it straight- about 4 drops per day. I will pick some of the booster up today. Do you give that by dropper or in the water?

Neurological, dislocation, or? Need help with chick please!

Update- seems more active today. Still non weight bearing but able to move around pulling with the left leg. The right leg drags behind him. If I turn the chick over, it can move both legs but that seems to be more of an involuntary response.

Neurological, dislocation, or? Need help with chick please!

Okay- will stop the scratch and just feed the chick starter. Continue with nutri drench? Probably can’t hurt, right? Is there a preferred supplement?

Neurological, dislocation, or? Need help with chick please!

Medicated chick starter supplemented with a small amount of my own custom blended scratch grains and a little bit of scrambled egg. Just started a small dose of nutri drench to provide support. Any recommendations?

Neurological, dislocation, or? Need help with chick please!

No. Unfortunately the only vet in my area that will see poultry is an emergency veterinary office- $75 to walk in the door and goes up rapidly from there. Costs as much to have my mobile equine vet out to see 3 horses. I’m guessing that no matter what the diagnosis is, the treatment will be...

Neurological, dislocation, or? Need help with chick please!

Thank you! The chick was with a couple of older chicks and the hen, and was starting to have limited time out with the older hens. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was injured by one of the larger birds, or was attempting to get pt to the roost and fell. Fingers crossed it’s not Mareks! I just...

Neurological, dislocation, or? Need help with chick please!

I just got home after a 2 vacation, and of course Murphy’s Law had to punish me for it with a broken chick. That will teach me to leave the farm! This little guy was apparently fine until 2-3 days ago when s/he stopped being able to walk. It is the smallest of 3- much smaller than its two...

Bantam Cochin peeps, please evaluate this guy!

I am new to chicken conformation and the SOP, so am curious as to your thoughts on this (the blue) 4-5 month old cockerel. Of the 3 that I have, I like him the most- his shape appeals to me, as well as his feathering and overall appearance. That said, I don’t know very much besides a couple of...

Which Bantam Cochin roo should I choose?

Another “which roo” thread! In my flock of 17, I have 3 bantam Cochin cockerels, about 4.5 months and a slightly older olive egger roo. He was injured by a fox as at 2 months and has a funny gait- he has no issues roosting, mating or getting around, just looks weird moving, so would be more...

Another “Who is this Bantam?” thread

Cool! I got it from TSC. Pullet or cockerel? Looks like a female to me, but not familiar with the breed.

Another “Who is this Bantam?” thread

Thanks to the irresistible mixed bin at TSC, I (like everyone else on here) haven’t be able to contain my desire for a colorful little flock. I’ve got most pretty well id’d, but this little one. Japanese? Something else? The black spots around the neck are throwing me, as is the lack of tail...

Splint, amputation, nature or euthanasia? (Photos)

Thank you all! I will splint and see how it goes. She really is quite happy and I certainly don’t mind helping her on a daily basis. She is a sweet little thing and seems determined to live, so she will have all the time she needs to get well
