UPDATE!
The pigeon has been successfully released back into the wild. He recovered very well and a big thanks to all the great advice, without it he probably would have died. Godspeed pigeon.
Yes, it's a wild pigeon, I found it in the yard this way, I just figured if it doesn't need to die I should try helping it. Thank you for your advice, hopefully with this the lil guy will be okay. I don't have neosporin anyways, so I'll do the wet dressing. On another note, what can I feed a...
I have been flushing the wound with a saline solution. There appear to be no skin flaps, just a big open wound about 6cm wide. Does the wound look salvageable? (warning: the picture is very graphic)
I have never had to deal with an injury like this, especially not on a bird, I'm hoping that others can point me in the right direction into saving this poor bird! Found it in my yard, dying, and I didn't want the dogs to eat it. I suspect the hawk attacked several pigeons and injured this one...
All advice here is good but first.... make sure you know your local ordinances! And remember chickens can be noisy so if you have neighbors make sure they're okay with them. I remember trying to convince my mom to get chickens when I was a teen.... then became an adult and I got my own job. She...
in my opinion all chickens are pretty chatty, they sure have a lot to say! to me quiet just means their voices aren't very loud, my wyandotte has a cute soft warbly voice, unlike my welsummer who is not only chatty but LOUD. i still will stand by wyandottes as good breeds though, i feel like...
Most people like buff Orpingtons, but I've never had one.
I'm partial to silver laced wyandottes, they're cute and quiet, although mine likes to chat. They have rose combs which makes them less likely to get frost bite. My SLW is sweet and gives me an egg every day!
i love cooking, baking, and..... video games! i mean based on my username it's obvious i like video games. i have over 700 hours on one video game i think it's more than a hobby and more an obsession:oops: in my defense it's at least over the span of 2 years....
Here is a pic of my welsummer
when she was a chick, I think they look pretty similar. It could be a welsummer mutt. I figured a comparison might be helpful :idunno
If the roundup was wet when consumed it can cause harm to the chickens, round up shouldn't be ingested by people or animals. I would say wait 2 weeks before eating their eggs just to be safe. Freshly sprayed round up can cause harm.
