    Sexing Barred Rocks

You have pullets there rosinsk1772. I would not be concerned about the leg coloring. These two are too dark in their feathering to be boys.

    Sexing Barred Rocks

I do not agree with the assessment just because of the comb size and color. The color of the bird itself tells me so much more. Cockerels come in with a whole lot more white. This one seems awful dark to be a boy. I still would say they are all girls.

    Easter Egger cockerels

I have 3 Easter Egger cockerels, 2 blue and 1 black with leakage. If you are looking to add the blue gene to your flock, here you go. They were hatched on 4/24/14 and are beautiful. They are Ameraucana breeding but with the leakage I will not be able to use them for my plans. If you would...

    Is it Orphington or Orpington?

I think you are probably right Jeremy. It drives me nuts though to hear it mispronounced and see it misspelled!! The Orpington name actually came from the family that started the breed.

    Sexing Barred Rocks

Hmmm, can we see pics of the others heads as well? Is this guy a breeder or are these hatchery birds? Makes a big difference in trying to follow the identification guidelines on them. If they are 6 days old, they should have some pretty good feathering coming on the wings right now. Can you...

Old wives tale. There are so many of them out there it is not even funny.

    Sexing Barred Rocks

Ha ha ha, I've been mooned by chicks!!! I really would need to see the head shots and a body shot would be nice as well on them. Butt shots, while cute, do me no good in trying to help determine the sex. :-)

    Sexing Barred Rocks

I don't know of a way to tell by their butt color, but the defined white dot follows the sex rule for barreds as it being a male. If the others have a less defined dot on the head, you are likely good!! Can you post pics?

You definitely have a girl there!! Nice dark coloring all throughout. The males will have A LOT more white throughout them.

    Sexing Barred Rocks

Round about 12-14 weeks is when I have seen them on most of my roos.

    Sexing Barred Rocks

I am leaning towards the middle one being a possible roo, the furthest looks like a pullet, hard to say with the closest one.
