    Egg turner help

Yes. I just got the ones they sell at Tractor Supply, or any other farm supply store. I drilled a hole in one side big enough to fit the plug through and sealed off the excess space with bubble wrap. It works great.

    Coronation Sussex Thread!

Probably true isn't it? I do know of rare chicken eggs that aren't shipped that will lend the same results so it's a mystery to me. :/

    Coronation Sussex Thread!

Anyone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe if there is too much inbreeding the hatch rate drops. It's important to have genetic diversity within. This can take a huge effort being that this breed is so rare in the US. I hope it works out for you!

    Egg turner help

I bought mine on amazon with a two year warranty. I have the same turner issues, and their response was that it worked properly. I obviously can return it, but what I did was buy a different turner and keep it. I love the digital display, alarm, and the large size. Obviously I bought it for the...

    Egg turner help

Hi! Super late response, but hope this helps someone: I've incubated three batches in this same incubator. My best results came from setting it on 38.2 and 30% humidity (then at day 18 increase humidity)

    Coronation Sussex Thread!

Hi!!! I'm a coronation lover! I bought my first three pullets and a dozen hatching eggs a few days ago, as I've been eyeing the breed for awhile now. So happy! Very soft feathered and sweet temperament. I'm sure a roo will be hatched in a month, and I'll be sitting pretty!! By the way, the...

How Long from mating to fertile egg?

Thank you!! I suppose I'll hatch those out myself. The only thing that can happen is olive eggers or Wheaton ameraucanas. Thank you thank you :D

    How long after switching roosters

Is it safe to assume the hatching eggs that come 10 days afterwards are ONLY from the old rooster? Even though the new rooster has been on her from the beginning? I just need to know so I know I can sell those eggs as pure. (The old rooster is the same breed, I'm switching a hen to the new...

How Long from mating to fertile egg?

Since I can't find the info, I'm wondering what your expertise thinks about this: I have a hen who has always been extremely fertilized by her rooster. Just yesterday I put her in another pen with a new rooster to start an olive egger project. The new maran rooster mounted her immediately, and...

    Janoel 48 auto incubator vs hova-bator ??

Just curious when you mentioned the humidity margin being inaccurate by 10%, did you mean it being higher than reading on the bator, or lower than on the bator?

    The Incubator Thread

I agree with chickkrzi. Let them set out for even 12-24 hours. 8 may work, too. Now, is your incubator on Celsius mode right now? 100*F is 37.7. Make certain that is correct for sure!! I just hatched from a janoel, and I had very uneven heating, even with a fan in there. Rotate the eggs frm...

    Ms here!

Iuka! Good to know there's people close. What do you have? I have a white silkie pair, black copper and blue copper marans, blue Wheaton ameraucanas, black ameraucana (bbs) rooster, a brown leghorn hen.

    Jan./Feb. 2014 hatch a long

Heidisgran, I opened them last night. Both gone. One lots of fluid still, other fully developed. No internal pipping. I'll be doing earlier intervention if this happens next time, I guess. Quite an experience. Things I've concluded about hatching chicks: do it with optimism, and never give up on...
