Calloway County. I've got several pullets I'd like to sell. I've got a few odds and ends; partridge rock, white rock, barred rock, easter eggers and red sex link.
I really don't think there is a best hen, it is just what you prefer. Does it matter what color eggs you get? In Kentucky you want a chicken that will be heat tolerant because the summers get so hot. But it helps to provide shade, a good place to take a dirt bath and maybe some ice water to help...
Does her belly feel really tight hard? A little gentle belly massage seems to help mine. I wouldn't add anything to the milk, that usually just causes more problems. I would dilute her milk down a little bit especially if she has yellow urine. If she is dehydrated the body will pull moisture...

My first coop was stationary, so I just have some large rubber tubs. I've recently built a mobile coop and I was wondering how most people handled the water situation. I like the idea of pvc with nipples, but what do you use to hold to water? Do you attach something to the coop? Make it so...
I thought about keeping him for breeding since all I have are hens, but then he started to crow. So the coop got moved further away from the house to protect my husbands sanity (he works nights and sleeps during the day). So yup, he is looking for a new home.
