Caught and separated...and whoever it was stopped crowing. Put them back...crowing restarted. 🤣 I think they're tormenting me. Went out early, and instead they all stopped and stared at me. 😩😅 New conclusion, they are trying to drive me insane.
So far, I spend about 3 hours a day with them, and they're also right outside my bedroom window. Whoever is crowing only does so at 4 to 5 am. These 3 during the day are bottom of the hierarchy, very quiet, and very shy. So far no behavior indicating cockerel. I'll just have to keep a closer...
Didn't see anyone as it was about 4:30am at the time, because my rooster legitimately hates me and sleeping. But all of my 4 OEGB batam pullets and my one 1 EE bantam are all laying (I get consistently about 5 eggs a day, 4 cream and one blue), so unless one of the girls is trying out crowing at...
I have 3 standard size "pullets" that I got from the chipmunk colored only "Assorted Pullet" bin at TSC. They're 13 to 14 weeks old. I was aware that it was still possible that cockerels could be in the mix. Which is good, because I woke up to the lovely sound of my rooster crowing, and then one...
That's awesome! I should have really thought about them being EEs that had CCLB ancestry. I guess I'm just so used to my Blue Sex-Link EE girl having her cheek tufts, that I didn't really think of EEs without some kind of tuft, beard, or crest. But like someone else said, they're probably...
I honestly think that you're right, and I'm never going to know till they lay. 😂 Maybe not even then, but it'll narrow it down for sure. These photos are all unedited. Just different lighting levels since we're about to have a storm. One of the photos has my cockerel Tide, a Buff Brahma bantam...
Looking at everyone's Welsummer, I'm sure #1 is also Welsummer. I'm now also sure that the other ones are not Welsummer, or at least not 100 percent. I keep thinking back when they said they might be EE, which would explain the unusual colors, but they don't have cheek puffs, nor green legs, nor...
Sure! While one I'm fairly certain is a Welsummer, the others might be Welbars? They have that subtle Barred Rock head, in my opinion. But truly, I have no clue. So any help is appreciated. Just when I think, yes, I know what they are, they change again. Lol the only one who might, maybe be a...
As of right now, no cockerels that I can see. But they're still young only roughly 7-ish weeks (give or take a week). And what appeared to be Welsummer don't really look very Welsummer anymore. I'll try to keep you updated though. :)
Here's updated pictures of 3 out of the 4. The additional one looks like the lightest one. Any additional thoughts? Also I thought they were 5-6 weeks old this week, but I'm not used to standards. Maybe a tad older? They had a few wing feathers when purchased.
I'm going to give it some time. A few more weeks and I feel it will be much more obvious, both what breed or mix they are as well as whether they're actually pullets or not. I'll keep everyone posted for sure!
Here's additional pictures for y'all of two of them. The other two were hiding. Also a picture of my Blue Sex-Link EE from Meyer's, who definitely made me think that the chicks were NOT EE since they have none of those features. Lol
