    They don't like their feed. Have we spoiled them?

    I occasionally throw the feed on the ground so they can "scratch" for it which is their natural instinct. Mine are only 4 months old so they still have a "free feeder" in the coop. I also hand feed, as "treats" any fruits and veggies just to make sure they eat their feed.

    dust bathing in the grit

    I have a small dish full of grit which they devour, but I have one the 2 week olds trying to dust bathe in it. Is this normal? and is there something i should be doing different in the brooder for them?

    baby chick feed mess

    Thanks Fred, I like the box lid. I am enjoying all this, the feed, drink, scratch, then pass out, repeat. The feeding today however has been frantic as if they would starve. occasionally the feed is flying across the brooder. I am looking forward to watching them in the yard.
