I would not count the square footage of the dropping board as walking space, because I would not allow them to walk/sit/stand/ or do anything on there except poop!

The vet just called us back about some medicines to use on the chickens that have the bumblefoot as an antibiotic. He suggested clindamycin, but he didn't have an exact egg withdrawal time, he said 8 weeks if we wanted an egg withdrawal time. He also suggested clavamox, So I don't know which one...
If they aren't going to be walking on them, just pooping on them, spradle leg shouldn't be a problem. Do they have anywhere else in the house where the roosts are? I wouldn't think they would wanna hang out under the roost if they have other space to go where shavings would be.

In our run connected to the hen house, it is just dirt and whatever else gets in there. Out in the chicken yard, I put some mulch, but dirt is just fine. The mulch made the yard look good for about three days... then .... the chickens went to work.

If I were ever to build a coop that size, I'd totally have you build it. The coop and run looks amazing. I also love the little a/c and the ss sink outside, its perfect. It definitely is Hen Haven.

The seramas should be able to jump up to it. It shouldn't be that big of a problem, probably the best chicken breed to have with that setup.

If you are wanting them to lay eggs in the nest boxes, try putting fake wooden eggs in the boxes. And time should also help. If they lay an egg in the main coop, but the egg in the nest boxes for them to see it there.

I thought I heard from somewhere that if a chickens comb is pale it means its not hydrated. Is this correct? I thought it had something to do with them sweating through them. Any info on this? Thanks

Amazing! It looks awesome. I like the roof and how its tilted and how you made the hen house with the blanks instead of just using a sheet of plywood. I wish we had more room where we could build something like that.
