    English Springer Spaniel, the best dog we’ve ever had is a field Springer. Raylan is smart, obedient, playful and gentle. When he looks at me it’s like he’s looking into my soul.🥹😍

    All of mine have names but only a few come to their actual names. They usually come to the collective name of “Babies”🎶. One named Broody follows me everywhere since hand feeding her for 21 days while she was setting on her two precious eggs.

    I keep my oyster shell in a wall mounted old timey soap dish inside the coop. My girls love to snack on it just before roosting for the night.

    Talk me off the Ledge... $2000 for a chicken coop!

    We built our coop on the frame of an old shed, stripped down to the studs. Total cost with a fenced in run & bird netting over the top to deter raptors was close to $3000 in 2019/20. Materials like cage wire etc were hard to find. We were lucky to have a local mill nearby for rough cut lumber...

    What’s the obsession over egg shell color?

    In my case, it’s not a difference in taste between egg colours. It’s the fact that I can see the shell pieces easier if the egg doesn’t break cleanly into whatever I’m making. So that’s one of the reasons why I keep Barred Rocks.

    Wow, beautiful! What is the difference between Heritage Barred Rocks & regular Barred Rocks? Or is it just the name? I love mine, I have a picture of my Great-Aunt feeding her Barred Rocks taken in the early 1900’s.
