I just brought another waterer out with some ice cubes and she's still in there drinking!! Probably dehydrated. But she's still twitching her head...

Also, there was poop on her egg last night!! She is 13 months old, layer feed w/oyster shells and droppings are usually normal except today when the grapes came out. They have a huge pool of water along with their waterer and I haven't noticed her not drinking...but I'm not out there all day...

I went out this morning and one of my girls is not well. She came to me and pooped the grapes I gave them last night...almost intact as if she hadn't digested them. She's sitting in the shade and about every 3 seconds her head is twitches like if a fly landed on your head...quick twitch every 3...

I'm in North Texas here. So far the chickens are ok in this 5 degree weather with negative wind chills. They are not coming out of their coop because of the snow, and I'm worried about them getting to their water. We have a heated bowl so it won't freeze and I just went and shoveled out pathways...

I don't understand about the vaseline, could someone expand on that? I am worried about our chickens. Their coop is not insulated but we put extra bedding in to try to help keep them warm at night. They don't seem bothered during the day outside in the run, and we have an area that they can get...

I've posted a little but wanted to say hello here, too. I'm from Texas and we have 5 hens. Used to be 6 but they got rid of one of themselves the 2nd day we moved them into their house. We have 2 Easter eggers (Rossi and Chandler), 2 barred rocks (Phoebe and Joei) and 1 buff orpington (Rachel)...

If you do find an auto door that works w/your design, they are so convenient. I still peek out at night to be sure they all got in, because we have a girl who likes to watch the night roll in, but other than that it is awesome. When we leave town, someone just comes for the eggs and that's that.

I appreciate the responses to my question about free ranging. But now I have a different problem. One of my hens is bullying the others. She's pecking at them and I'm pretty sure the reason for all the feathers and egg laying has slowed/stopped for the other hens. If I separate her in a cage...
