Exactly what I was thinking too, but she said both parents are chocolate and I saw them with my own eyes as well. I’m guessing I wound up with eggs from a different breed altogether.
Looking for anyone with experience in chocolates! I purchased these cuties from a breeder as hatching eggs. They are supposed to be chocolate Orpingtons. Parents are both chocolate. Is it possible for all 5 chicks to be black at a day old? I was expecting brown chicks not black. Breeder says...
I can do that, but I'd also really like to see what they are "supposed" to look like for future reference. They are by far the type that I was wanting the most and I don't want to have to make this mistake again if I could identify them easier next time. Guess I should have worded my post...
Anyone have any pics of silver laced polish at around 4 weeks of age? I'm pretty sure mine are white crested black and not silver laced. :( They have feathers and they are all solid black, so just wanted to see what others look like at this age.
Of the 6 Barred Rocks in this pic, am I correct in saying that 2 are pullets and 4 are cockerels? The second from the left in the group of 4 lighter ones does not have as pronounced waddles but it still has more there than the 2 darker ones I believe to be pullets.
3 are dark with combs that are very close to the head. 5 are lighter. Of those 5 they all have more pronounced combs but 3 of the 5 have combs that look more like they are getting color in them. Does this description mean anything? :)

We are constructing our new run this week. My husband wants to do a full hardware cloth floor/bottom in the run area (20'x20'). I was thinking a 2' apron or burying a foot or so of the side panels would be sufficient. I also didn't want to damage my birds feet, and I wanted them to be able to...
