    Advice needed on flock introductions

Yes I gave away my rooster yesterday, but I was lucky and found someone who loved him as much as I did. He was a gorgeous bird and the lady I gave him to was so impressed by his coloring. Then she wrote me a nice e-mail last night telling me what a great temperament he had and how pleased she...

    Advice needed on flock introductions

She is a Rhode Island Red and she's pretty easygoing. I was hoping to get the same breed that my rooster is, an Ameraucauna/Easter Egger. They seemed to get along pretty well. I'm pretty certain she would need a friend. She gets worried when she can't find my other chicken in the yard...

New to the board and love my chickens!

I remember when my babies fell off the roost at night. Scared me too! And I agree taking pictures of chickens is like herding cats.

I have created tiny little monsters...

Mine love pecking out of a cantaloupe rind. Another favorite is carrot peelings. I just hope I'm not spoiling them so they won't eat bugs.

Newly crowing hen..... or maybe a roo....

Yes, I'm a bit sad about it. I can't believe how attached I've gotten in just 10 weeks, but then again I did raise him from a tiny fuzzy chick. Hopefully someone will recognize his beauty and will take him into their home.

Newly crowing hen..... or maybe a roo....

Thanks everyone. I didn't want to hear it, but it's still nice to know the truth. I guess now the search begins for a new home and a new companion for my hen.

Newly crowing hen..... or maybe a roo....

Yes, beautiful, but roosters are illegal in the city limits so.... not sure what I'll do now.

Newly crowing hen..... or maybe a roo....

About 10 weeks ago, I got two cute little baby chicks, supposedly both female. This week my Ameraucauna started crowing. She has always been bigger and dominant. These are the first chickens I've ever owned so I'm a bit clueless. Roosters are not allowed in the city limits so if she is a he...
