    Listless, dying hen

Thanks. It's always hard to lose a chicken. But I wanted to share the info. At least I know now if this happens again.

    Listless, dying hen

I got the results on Red today :( Final report on 6-month-old Americana pullet: presumptive Marek's disease with lymphocytic infiltrates in the brain and peripheral nerves, pleocellular infiltrates in heart and. liver. There were no remarkable gross lesions seen. The histologic changes in the...

    Listless, dying hen

Thank you so much for your help. She didn't make it. We have a local livestock mobile vet and I had her out (I usually treat things myself) Red passed away mid exam but they're sending her to UC Davis to find out exactly what was wrong. Vet thought an infection too.

    Listless, dying hen

Thank you. I don't know how to tube her, but I do have a blunt syringe I've been using to get water and medicine into her. She's pretty far gone today, but I am trying what I can to at least keep her comfortable for now.

Her crop seems fine but I have been soaking feed and did get some mold. I threw it out but maybe she got some of that. Any treatment if that's the case? thanks so much for replying.

    Listless, dying hen

I have a 6 month old ee hen who has been sick for five days now. Found her Thursday am in the coop in the roost bars but not moving much. I thought maybe she was getting ready to lay her first egg but she got worse so I brought her in as it's very cold out. She's not eating or drinking. I've...

Is there a disease makes chicks toe nails and toes fall off?

I just had a two week old chick with two of these on the toes of one foot. I soaked her foot in warm water and gently rubbed and picked the dirt off. Very carefully. Took about 45 minutes as they were the size of marbles and just as hard but they came off and her toes and feet are fine.

Any suggestions on getting a young flock to go back in the coop at night?

I've been having the same problem. Put a 40w red lightbulb in and I can get them to go in, but if I can't get them in early enough and then try to turn the light out, they're getting really upset and start piling on each other, which I know is dangerous. Mine are 8 weeks old. I've had chickens...

    Orange Eglu Cube Coop

That's such a cute set-up! I've thought about using our cube in a bigger run down the road. We rent and can't do that here but are planning a move in the next year or so with room for more chickens! :-)

    Orange Eglu Cube Coop

We've had coyotes in our yard - they couldn't get in. Same with Racoons. We had some type of wild cat in our yard a few months ago. Bobcat, I think? The coop is steel mesh and other then a bear, I don't think anything can get in there. Quote:

    Orange Eglu Cube Coop

It's been 2 years and I still love ours too. I was looking for a way to give the girls some extra shade this summer and found a beach umbrella in my garage that I don't use anymore. I zip tied it to the side. It's been great for giving the coop shade on hot days, and looks pretty too. Hope...

    Lost my EE Annie today!!!

We got ours from my pet chicken last June. Everyone has been healthy until now. Quote: Hey aren't you Lisa that had a Leghorn with sour crop? Yes, I am the Lisa with the little leghorn girl with the sour crop. I am sorry about your Annie! I was just thinking though with several EE's...
