(GRAPHIC) Sudden death of 7 month old laying hen cause?

That would make sense, thank you. It was weird because they had no signs of blood on their beaks or faces.

(GRAPHIC) Sudden death of 7 month old laying hen cause?

She was in the coop with the other chickens, it was actually my dad who found her and this was how she was when he found her. The coop is a converted shed and had a rat problem last year but we got rid of them and the other chickens showed no signs of having been at her.

(GRAPHIC) Sudden death of 7 month old laying hen cause?

GRAPHIC IMAGE ATTACHED, PLEASE VIEW AT YOUR OWN RISK My sweet Chickpea passed suddenly today with no indication of illness or issue like egg binding (no penguin stance, lethargy, etc). She was a 7 month old Easter Egger and had just started laying a week or so ago. The first egg was a little...

Hen limping and losing feathers-no noticeable signs of mites or bumblefoot

I’ll try cleaning her feet if she’ll let me, thank you! She lost a ton of feathers running away from me when I went to catch her to isolate her yesterday. Like flapping her wings caused a bunch to fly off of her wings and butt. She’s isolated with a friend for company and she can hear the rest...

Hen limping and losing feathers-no noticeable signs of mites or bumblefoot

She hasn’t been getting bullied but I did isolate her with the gentlest hen for company. They can’t see the rest of the flock where they are but they can hear them.

Hen limping and losing feathers-no noticeable signs of mites or bumblefoot

Thank you in advance to anyone who can help! My 2yr old buff Orpington hen Pancake has developed a hobble the past few days that has progressed to her struggling to jump onto the perch at night and slowing her movements. She is extremely skittish and hard to handle so I’ve only been able to...

Hi! I know you responded a while ago and I’m sorry for the late reply but it seemed to just be a sore throat and she’s back to her normal self! Thank you for your advice!

2 Year Old Barred Rock Hen Losing Her Voice?

My 2yo barred rock Pepper appears to be losing her voice as of yesterday. She normally is quite vocal and has a clear cluck/scream but today she is quieter and her sounds seem more garbled and strained. Her comb is nice and red, she is running and flapping and digging with all her normal...

Final update, 01.30.24 Salt passed away this evening at the vet. She woke up today hungry but unable to stand and we got an emergency vet appointment where she said she lost 17% of her body mass despite eating more and having solid poops again. We chose euthanasia as it was surprisingly cheap...

    Possible tumor advice

Me too. It's funny, sometimes she doesn't want to eat but still guards the food from her friend. I might look into getting a brooder plate and putting it in the coop if she gains enough weight to go outside.

    Possible tumor advice

Updating as of 01.18.2024 Salt had a 3rd vet appointment and has not gained any weight worth noting. The vet did say however that she does not seem to be in any pain and seems to be enjoying life minus the fatigue so she recommended keeping her warm and offering her any food she will take in...

    Possible tumor advice

Thank you! I am going to try and get an x-ray next week at her follow up, at this point I'm hoping it's a benign tumor since I've had other animals live happy lives with them.
