Two Swedish
This is the EE in question.
The egg I previously collected from her, which was very obviously blue. I also have a giant cochin hen, a speckled sussex, and one other Swedish (not in the first pic) but I don't seem to have images of them on this computer right now.
EDIT: The last...
I guess she may not be. I've gotten 4-5 eggs a day from 6 hens, so I thought for sure she must have been in there, but to be honest, I've never seen her in the nest. I'm not home during the day, so I just thought it was a coincidence, but maybe not. I'll try to find some pics.
Sure, here are yesterday's (first pic) and fridays (third pic). I just put thursdays (second pic) in with another few to make a dozen so not sure which is which, but every egg pictured is no more than a week old and they have all been inside the coop for at least that long.
I have searched through this thread for similar questions and didn't locate them, so forgive me if I'm repeating, but....
I have an EE about a year old. She used to lay beautiful blue eggs. We moved and, like most chickens, she went through an adjustment period with no eggs for a little while...
Thanks so much everyone! Well, my hatch was terrible - 16 viable eggs went into lockdown, 4 hatched. I was so disappointed. the hens that are broody are only 6 months and this is their first time going broody. Plus, then are sitting on 6 of their own eggs, which should hatch in 8-10 days...
I want to say pullet because I want you to be happy - but that isn't really what I think. The light barring, comb size and color, and the fact that the dot on the chick's head is higher and circular all say roo to me. I just raised a number of barred rocks last year and that one looks like the...
The comb size and color says roo to me, but the dark barring looks more pullet. The legs seem pretty darn big and yellow, though, which makes me vote roo. In terms of breed, although marans is an option, they seem like mostly barred rock, either poor quality or mixed barred rock. (poor quality...
Please forgive the shameless bump, but I am expecting the hatch to happen tomorrow and would love to know if anyone else has any opinion or experience with anything like this. Thanks so much!
Well, seems like as of yesterday, not one but BOTH my silkie hens are broody now. The one has been totally in the box for a week, now the other one is in there and won't come out. They are squeezed into the same box, too - they won't spread out. I should hopefully have 12-16 hatch so maybe I'll...
Hi Everyone. I have read a lot of threads about sneaking chicks under broody hens and I'd like to do that. My silkie laid a nice clutch of eggs and I put them in the incubator. They are in lockdown now, and in the past week, she has become broody and is sitting on the eggs that have been laid...
I am by no means an expert, but one of the pictures above looks like it could be a poor quality FBCM. I don't see any leg feathers and the copper is barely there, but it has the right basic shape and comb. I have three of them and they all lay an egg that looks just like the brown speckled one.
I am very excited. Lockdown is this Friday, Halloween. So in about a week, they should be here! 8 LF and 4 bantam eggs. Only one LF egg seems like maybe it quit, but I'm giving it until lockdown to prove itself.
