This is helpful thank you! Ive started draining their two pools overnight with leaving the hose in the pool and the other end down the drain which I think is going to help massively particularly in the wet months!
It’s difficult because we actually have them as pets in a medium-large size garden so the thought of seperating them forever is heartbreaking. But I am noticing the other females resist him more because he’s only able to mate two of them and he is starting to catch around the one females eye...
Hi All, this is our current set up. Before we had 2 more ducks, making 4 the garden looked like this (see photos attached)
As you can see still lots of patches, particularly near the swimming pool where it gets tipped out twice weekly.
Here is a photo from today (we did have heavy rainfall...
I always feel if I seperate him will he become more frustrated and the pounce on the females more once he’s with them? We do provide half an hour in the morning and an hour on the evening social time where they are monitored by me or my partner which helps
Hi everyone! So we had two indian runners, then realised ratio was not right and our female was being over mated, so got two more. Now have four and they get along great. The only thing is, every time our drake mates with our original girl, even if its just once, her eye is so badly injured it...
Hi guys, we have recently added two ducks to our flock so now we have 4 indian runners. I am very ocd and find the ammount of poo overwhelming. Every evening i am hosing the garden, pool area and their pen down and spending around 30 mins on it. Is there any creative ideas/solutions you have for...
Hi everyone, our female duck was getting over mated and getting many eye injuries. Friday night we added two females all a year old, so now we have a ration of 3:1.
Our drake is now mating with one of the new females which is great. The other new female keeps swaying her head in a low snake...
Yes their are a few big stones/rocks, going to remove them tomorrow because I imagine she might be scraping her beak trying to get the bugs underneath. We have a kiddie pool and they mate in their most the time. We will definitely add another female soon, hope that eases. I thought seperating...
Hi All, we have been really concerned about our female daisy this last week. She had an eye injury we think due to overmating ( we only have one drake and one duck, thinking of adding females) and her eye seemed worse the next day with more pink flesh and feathers removed. Since yesterday she...
Hi All, I have been noticing some dark spots on our ducks beak at the top. It does at times look a little sore/red. The last few days she has developed a pink scab on the bottom of her beak, any advice?
Yes so it was looking a little more pink and swolen, less feathers and then that darker patch top left just looks a little swolen, I thought maybe that part was a cut/injury?
Is there anything you can do to reduce mating 😅😩
Hi all, I am pretty sure our daisys bad eye is due to mating. Any advice please? Could it be possible infection?
here is a photo of her good eye and bad eye to compare...
