Thanks, I am going to call the local vet tomorrow and see if they can tell us of a place to take her. I really do not think it was Meraks since none of the other chick are getting sick. I also contacted to store where we bought her and they have not heard of sny of the other chicks getting sick...
We had to put Cali down today. She would cry like she was in pain when she tried to sit up. She got to a point the she would just lay on her side. We could bare to see her in pain. My nine year old son who picked her out did not take the news that she passed to well. I am so glad we sent he out...
Thanks, I just added the vitamins to her water. I gave her some sunflowers which are high in vitamin E until I can get some tomorrow. I really appreciate all your help!
Thanks, I think I have been giving her too much vitamin B. I have been dissolving one tablet in about 1-2 tablespoons of water, then mixing that with her food daily. I will get done vitamin E. If it is a vitamin issue how long will it take her to recover?
Yes, she has been on those for three days now. I have given her poly-vi-sol, lots of sun, de- wormer, and electrolytes. I also work her legs and massage them every night to try to keep them moving.
Thanks, she seemed to be standing on on foot this morning. I am going to leave work early to go get some more vitamins, I will also get some de-worming though her poo looks normal to me.
I was giving her yogurt for the extra riboflavin. I will cut down her yogurt. I just want her to be able to walk again. ;(
What else can I do? When should the extra vitamins start helping? I am running out of things to try.
Thanks everyone for the posts. I have been giving her yogurt and vitamins (Polivysol). So far no real changes, but I have only been doing this for 24 hours. She loves sitting in my lap eating her yogurt. She is still full of enery and eats and drinks. Hopefully we will see improvements soon.
I have a white leghorn that started walking funny and had curled toes about three days ago. How is yours doing, was it Marek's or riboflavin deficiency? Here is a video of my baby, she appears healthy except her feet.
I reposted the video. The other chickens are fine. Stool looked normal, I did not see any worms. I have looked at her skin, would mites and lice be obvious? This is my first time raising chickens.
