Is it safe to use fabric scraps in nesting boxes?

So, I cannot seem to find much information on alternative nesting materials. We got our first egg yesterday, yay! So exciting. For now the nesting boxes just have pine shavings and that seems to work great. However, I sew and crochet a lot. I have a lot of "serger spaghetti" and yarn scraps...

Nervous for my hens...I have a maturing Roo...

Oh goodness no! I did not intent to sound combative! In all honesty, I am just super sad about our Roo situation as I've been reading some horror stories :( My kiddos will be devasated if we have to rehome him but they'd surely be more devastated if he hurt someone. hens or roosters?

She is making some really awful sounds in the morning, not so much a cock a doodle doo but more like a cat dying?! I am quite attached and really hoping we can keep her if she is a Roo. I am allowed where I...

    Rooster or Hen

Not sure about our Black Australorp...she/he seems to be attempting to crow but not consistenly and really it sounds nothing like "cock-a-doodle-doo" and more like a dying cat?! She/he is also much bigger than the other hens and definitely the one in charge. Any thoughts?! "Princess Zelda"...

What do you have in your flock?

This is our first round with chickens and we got 4...sort of wishing we got a few more now but not ready to go through the baby chicks in the brooder in the house again for awhile, ha! We got a Wyandotte, an Easter Egger, a Bantam Cochin (didnt realize she was a bantam when she was a baby chick)...
