    Coturnix wire floors.

It sounds like your pens are similar to what I built. I used 1/2" x 1" wire for the floors though. It's heavier guage and seems to be pretty comfortable for them. I would worry about 3/4" square allowing feet to slip through. but I don't have any to test on my birds for you.

Anyone know what I'm talking about and have the link? Kind of stretch I know but I'm drivin myself crazy trying to find it...

My Quail Have Started Laying :)

My quail have been laying for about two weeks now. The earliest ones started at 5.5 weeks old. Egg size has been increasing through the week and more of the birds (there are twelve females, in three groups of four) are laying now. A day and half's collection. There were three more eggs waiting...

    Joining the Quail Crowd...

Chickens have been put off til next year but I had the opportunity to bring home some quail. They are two weeks old now and I am really enjoying them. So much that they will be "in addition to" chickens instead of "until"! There are 28 right now...the seller threw in quite a lot of extras in...

Wanted to Buy: Coturnix Quail (Southwest Ohio)

I'm looking for Coturnix Quail to raise for eggs in southwest/midwest Ohio. I don't have an incubator yet so eggs aren't an option...looking for chicks, young birds, or adult breeding groups. I realize price will vary based on the age group. Jumbo are preferred but not required. No interest in...

    Mealworm farming

You can try to find soybean meal or hulls (feed mill may have it). I've seen mealworms/darkling beetles doing quite well in spills of straight up soymeal...might work in a bin too.

    Mealworm farming

I'm sort of wishing I had ordered more to start, now. I keep checking on them obsessively lol. They are in a warm spot so seem very active. Very glad I got them started before my chicks arrive because the temptation to start feeding them out too early would be high...though I did give one to...
