I live near you, next town over, but luckily not in an HOA. I have 3 hens. I can have up to 6, but no roosters (city ordinance). They have their own little house with a run that matches the shop. I think it's quite nice & adds to the home's value.

Very little will get rid of buttercups. Horses won't eat them, but almost everything else will & they are toxic. You practically have to dig to the core of the earth to get them out. Horrible species!
