This morning she is up on her legs, but her right foot seems clubbed?
I’m going to do the leg brace and a toe brace to try and help her out. I need to keep her separate from her siblings; does she *need* the heat lamp or would she be ok at room temp if I put her where I can keep an eye on her?
Good morning!
So, overnight I kept an eye on her. I didn’t separate her bc none of the other chicks paid her any attention. They all snuggled up under the heat lamp and slept.
This morning her belly looks way better, not fully gone like the others, but just a tiny little scab and her fluff...
We adopted a submissive roo from a decent sized flock with a huge dominant rooster.
Our roo- heyhey- was very skittish and quiet for quite some time bc he wasn’t used to being in charge.
Now he realizes he’s top dog here and acts accordingly. Your new roo may just be submitting to your...
Here’s a better pic of her. That leg just flops wherever it wants and her poor yolk butt. She pipped and hatched in like 20 min, so it’s no wonder. She’s bigger than the other peeps too.
Thank you!!!!
I will be fitting her tomorrow for her brace. She’s fluffed and in the brooder. They are all sleeping- there’s only 5. She already seems to be moving better than when in the incubator, but her one foot definitely doesn’t work right.
Ok. Updaaaate.
Gosh this day
So I was gone most of the day visiting a friend who just had a baby. My dad was home with my kids and watching the bator.
Before I left I had two peeps hatched. The first one to hatch pipped and hatched within about 20 min and was immediately having...
This is struggle bus. Her one leg shoots out at this weird angle and she seems almost to have a hernia or something? What is that on her butt?
I wrapped myself and the incubator in a blanket- grabbed SB and checked her out and put her in the brooder. Then I wrapped up, removed the four perfects...
Ok I have the brooder warming up for the perfect ones. Struggle bus is going to have to stay with me while I check her out and find out why she can’t stand
She’s out, along with 4 others. That leaves two eggs to hatch. They don’t have any pips so far.
The first one to hatch is having trouble. She’s flopping around but can’t stand up.
How dry do they need to be before I can move them to the brooder?
I have 5 peeps out so far. The first one that hatched seems deformed. She’s flopping around but can’t stand up is it ok to open the incubator and take her out to look her over/take pics? How dry to they have to be?
I have two eggs left with no pips yet. It’s day 20
