Well we found the feather piles from the two missing birds, no carcasses, no blood, but obviously dead birds. We also found a well traveled animal trail leading from a den in the hill behind our house where the feathers were. So now the game camera is up and the birds are locked in tight! Hope...
Just ran home for lunch and found 3 of them had been hiding in a neighbors back yard, he knew they were mine and kept feeding them so they wouldnt take off before I got home! 2 are still gone and I doubt they will be found.
Yesterday morning I went out to the coop and my mallard drake was missing. I thought maybe he flew off... This morning I got up to find my bantam roo in a neighbors tree roosting and 5 full size hens gone! No sign of them anywhere! These are birds that have free-ranged in my back yard for a year...
Well I opened it and once I removed the shell from the "tail" there was just that fairly hard ball attached, the rest of the inside of the egg looks normal.
Can anyone tell me what happened here!? I went to collect eggs this afternoon and found this, the shell is completely hard but has this thing coming out of the not fully enclosed top.
If all goes well we will be there with a whole bunch of little fuzzy butts! They will be mostly ameracaunas but some will be mutts and we will have some light sussex!
Thanks Hoppy! My "skis" look a bit more like snowshoes but I am hoping it will work! She was running around and eating\drinking before so I am keeping my fingers crossed that this goes well! Thanks for the suggestion!
I had 11 little ones hatch 2 days ago and when I got home today I noticed this little ones feet are curled......is this common? Anything I can do about it?
Any advice on keeping my lone chick happy? I put a feather duster in for "her" to snuggle with, but not sure what else I can do... We were expecting more chicks but the shipped eggs didnt work out as well as planned.. Time to set some from my girls!
hi all! I am pretty new to this site and to hatching BCs. I had a dozen BC eggs shipped to Maine from TN at the end of December and on Friday (day 23! in the incubator) we had a little one hatch. This is the only baby that hatched, humidity and temp were all monitored daily with two different...
As long as the rest of the night at work is good to me, I will be bringing a barred rock/wyandotte cross 8mo rooster, a golden comet rooster (approx. 2yo) and a trio of beardless, black faced white silkies! I would keep the boys if I had the room for the winter! They are huge but so sweet and...
I have 4 golden comets that are 2 years old, I just introduced 4 one year olds and 2 six month old hens to the flock. I also have a 2 year old rooster. I was getting 2 eggs a day consistently before I introduced the new girls. It has been almost 3 weeks and I am getting LESS eggs! some days we...
