Hello everyone!
This morning when I went to see my chickens, I found that my broody hen had traversed to the other section of the coop and couldn't go back to her eggs. :( She has her own section in the coop for brooding as she's the smallest of the hens by far (a Silkie) and tends to get...
Thanks for your suggestion! We can't find these products without a permit in Québec, so I've tried another salt bath. Hopefully that will resolve the issue, if that's really caused by lice.
Hello everyone!
My hen has been unable to walk for 1 month, probably due to an injury (I'm hoping it's not Marek), so we are keeping her in the house. In the last week, I saw lice on her so I used some DE and gave her a bath with dish soap and salt right away - we really don't want lice on her...

A couple of days ago, we noticed that she was having a little trouble walking and the next morning, she was really struggling so we took her out of the coop and brought her inside the house. The coop is isolated...
Thanks for your help and for responding so quickly! I'll start looking for two other ones right now. As it's a little 1 day-old silkie, would it be better to get a chick from the same size and same age, or slightly older/bigger chicks would be ok too?
Hi everyone!
I've learned a lot about raising my chicks here, but this is my first time posting a question :)
We're currently at day 22 of incubation, with only 2 eggs in the incubator. We only put two as a "test" to see if our young silkie couple had started mating because we still struggle to...
