Thanks,
I tried incubation 1 year but din't have any luck with 2 different batches of eggs. I was thinking of just letting the hens hatch the eggs and then raising the keets in a brooder for a while but wonder about reintroducing brooded keets/poults into the flock. Would they be accepted or...
That never happened to me. I had one guinea set on eggs that were under a truck camper shell and I went by there every day. I had others lay them in the chicken nest boxes and would have to get her to climb out of there every day so I could check for chicken eggs. That got to be a little scary...
You sound like your doing a good job there. Can you tell me how you raise them or do you just let the hens raiser them?
Last night I was in the coop(I go in there just after dark so they can get used to me) and was petting one of the girls, she was up on a perch about 5 feet off the floor. I...
I tried incubating a couple of years ago and didn't have much luck.Thought I'd go the natural route this time.I'll take a look at some eggs tonight. Thanks for the info.
Reminds me of when I was volunteering for the division of wildlife and we counted and sexed wild canadian geese. We would take their head and tuck it under a wing(the geese do this when they sleep I recall). This would calm them down and we would hand them off to each other like a football. I...
I bought 7 guineas last week from a couple who have had them for about a year now. They said they were just starting to lay and were getting 1 egg a day.I brought them home and got 4 eggs the first day and its been varying between 3-4 eggs/day. Composition of the flock seems to be 6 hens and 1...

Moved to Bolivar about a year ago. Just starting the new flock now with 7 guineas and 5 embden goslings. Guineas are laying-got 3 eggs yesterday-just abouty a year old. Will have to build a nest area for them in the coop. Guy I bought them from said he was getting 1 egg a day. They must have...
Since the molt started in November, I have averaged 1 egg every other day from 6 birds. That recently went up to 1/day and ywesterday i got 2 eggs one green from my Aurucan/amerucana which hasn't laid an egg since July! Today i went out and found this incredibly small egg.
I have 24 guinea eggs in my incubator now.2 different batches. One batch of 14 went in on April 25 and the second batch went in on May 4. I have a piece of cardboard running down the center of the incubator to divide them. Yesterday I had 1 egg from the first batch poke a small hole in the egg...
Thanks for those pics I candled the eggs my broody was sitting on and really didn't see much except for the space near the fat end of the egg(its day 20 and I'm hatching guineas) I was beginning to think they were bad but they pretty much look like your day 17 and 18 eggs. Not so worried now.
THanks for the response Perchie girl,I'll look up Peepsca.Yeah I know about the game bird starter.I'd hate to through away the 7 eggs I have under the hen now.Do you think taking those eggs and putting them in an incubator would work?
