    March Hatch-A-Long

I wouldn't worry about it too much, several of mine got rolled by the other chicks and it didn't seem to effect the hatch.

    March Hatch-A-Long

Oh definitely, I plan on breeding and hatching my own birds in a few months and bought fertile eggs from a farm close by to do a test hatch. Very encouraged by the results although I know a 94% hatch rate is not the norm.

    March Hatch-A-Long

Final tally, 30 of 32 hatched. Not a bad hatch rate for my first time. Very impressed with the Genesis 1588 bator. First one popped out early on day 21 and the last one hatched sometime yesterday (day 23) while I was at work. This concludes my March hatch, good luck to all those still waiting on...

    March Hatch-A-Long

Had 2 pipping this morning when I left for work. Didn't expect to see any till tonight but very excited to see what I have when I get home. I feel like a Kid on Christmas.

    March Hatch-A-Long

Candled all 30 eggs last night before putting them on lock down. I'm happy to say that all eggs have very active peeps in them. Should have my first batch in a couple days. Can't wait!

why did this guy/gal enter our coop at dusk...cold nights in Massachusetts?

I've never seen one in the coop during the daytime, always after dark when I have forgotten to lock up the coop at dusk. I've never had any issues with any going after my hens or eggs either so I can't help you there. I've always seen them around the feeder. I've since gotten 2 dogs that do a...

why did this guy/gal enter our coop at dusk...cold nights in Massachusetts?

I've had several possums get into my coop before I could lock it up at dusk. I always saw them at my feeders eating chicken feed.
