    My chickens got soaking wet a week ago it was also very cold. Now one of them sounds like a duck. She didnt sound like that before. I thought maybe she was sick. Shes acting, eating, laying fine. But it makes me concerned.

    When to introduce the Nesting Box?

    Half my hens are of laying age, the other half not of age but tonight I found one of the young ones in a nest. I've always had the nesting boxes in the coop. I found when they are ready they'll use it.

    I have the rooster, 2 rhode island reds, 1 black sexlink, 1 wyandotte and 1 plymouth rock. It's very strange, the rooster and reds hang together and the black n whites hang together. They have self segregated. Only the reds are laying. I'm hoping the blacks are going to start laying soon.

    I have five hens and the one rooster. I had a lovely Big Bertha a Brahma, my neighbors dog got loose and killed her. I was shattered. I just started with this flock all gotten from the same place at the same time.
