I'm going to agree with Michael that you should flush out the maggots and spray with a screw worm aerosol. I know it looks awful but I think your bird can recover. Mine did despite the horror I felt when I saw her vent crawling with tiny maggots.

I just reread the original post. I thought that the law in CH was that we were able to keep a "healthy sized flock" if we had 10,000 sqft. Where does the number 10 come in as the maximum number of chickens allowed?
Yes a monthly meeting would be great. And yes, I am allowed to have hens just no roosters because I am slightly under 20,000 sq ft. Sorry - I left out a 0 in my last post, my lot is 18,000 sq feet (almost half an acre) but no roosters allowed unless you have 20,000 sqft. I plan to get chicks...
