I’ve given my flock whole cabbages hanging up outside or inside their coop. They love it. It’s gone within day and half. I use a kabob skewer to pierce the cabbage through the middle then use the loop at the end of the skewer to hang it up.
There isn’t that type of puss. It’s a white thin discharge, which seems to have lessened since starting treatment. I’ll poke around the area to see anything can be removed. I’ve been flushing it with saline solution before putting in ointment.

Good to know. We won’t be going that route next year. Are the chicks at Tractor Supply, Rural King, or other supply stores sex linked? Do you prefer mail order chicks vs feed store chicks health wise?
They were a day old and sexed via feathers. But the farm did not guaranteed the sexing. I was thinking an extra rooster or two would be acceptable but our number seems high. Is 25% good for wing sexing?
