I received a response from my vet. He said "I'd be more concerned with trauma than with disease. It doesn't hurt to keep it rinsed out or if you have some eye ointment, you can out it in twice daily. Some chickens get bumped in the eye, flapped with feathers that irritate the eye, etc. For now...
Is anyone aware of what this may be? Its on her left eye, the other eye is totally normal. I flushed it multiple times but it does not clear away. Any advice is appreciated. Maybe the beginning of a cataract? No other chicken has this in the flock.
I’m seeing this color and consistency poop from a few of my chickens. They are on a layer feed with occasional scratch. They have clean water numerous times a day and also get electrolytes and probiotics. None of the chickens that expel this color are lethargic or seem sick.
I’m devastated to say that I’m waiting for my friend to return with her so that she can be buried with the others we’ve lost over the years.
She had not improved and i cannot continue to watch it suffer.
