I've been trying to get a Black Copper Maran for ages, I thought I got lucky with my last batch of eggs, but the sole Black Copper that hatched ended up being a roo. A pretty roo, but I had to give him away. I also got a Blue Copper hen out of that batch, but she's not due to start laying until...

I have these three roos in need of homes! The two legbars will come up for treats but the marans is a bit skittish. They are about 16 weeks old. They are from Papa's lines, hatched by one of my broodies. I am willing to drive a bit to see they have good homes...
Here's Juniper at 13 weeks. He's just starting to do his first molt so I suppose his colors might change a bit, but I'm thinking he's a Barred Rock and not a Sex Link.
So here's Juniper at 3 weeks, just about. Still not sure if he's a black sex link or a barred rock, but I'm pretty confident in calling him a boy. Look at that red comb and thick legs! The other one still looks pretty much the same, so no new pictures of her :)
Wow, ultraflora, you are so right, they do look very similar! I would consider it very lucky if I got a BCM! I'm just going to keep my fingers crossed that it's a girl!
I'll have to keep an eye on the black one, for sure. I'll post more pics when they're a little older :D Thanks everyone!
In my latest order from Meyer I received two mystery chicks. One is the incubator clean out, the other is the meal maker. Any ideas? They're about 2 weeks old now.
All finished!
Storage area on left, coop on right with nesting box.
Pop door.
View from inside the storage area into the coop.
Less than a week from plan to completion, I was really lucky to get my hands on a fantastic contractor!
Ignore the weird staircase contraption in the back!
Here's the first half of my coop, the human area (for storage). The chicken area is already built but it got too dark to take a picture.
I'm going to be getting a metal roof on it.
I need ideas for colors! I love bright colors and I want...
Hey all, I'm in Decatur and trying to rehome some roosters. I have 3 easter egger bantams and 6 (ish) full sized guys of varying colors (one of them is really beautiful). I really don't want to cull them if I can help it, but I'm in town so I don't want to push my luck with crowing.
When chicken math hit me earlier this year, I ordered 4 straight run easter-egger bantams from Meyer and got some of the cutest babies ever... except three of them are roos. SIGH. The prettiest ones, too. Since I'm still in town, I don't want to push my luck with crowing, so I'd like for these...
