    New nest box, ideas/input?

Today i set out to construct a nest box with what we have around the yard. I’m loving the way it turned out.. hoping my hens feel the same way. I should add that I have four inch blocks that it sits on top of. It’s for use inside of the run but out side of the hen house. The chickens come and...

Barnyard mix.. 4 month old.. I still can't tell what it is..

I don't know much about chickens, I've been asking around trying to figure out what this little black and brown chicken ('sunny') might be. The lady I purchased 'sunny' and 'scramble' (the white and black roo) from said that they could be a mix of just about any kind of chicken. She had a...

Dominant hen, bantam rooster.. will he be 'rooster' enough?

I have a new backyard coop, 2 hens and one rooster. I have one sex-link hen and two barnyard mix bantams, one of which is an adorable little rooster. The bantam hen is timid as can be, but the sex link hen is huge in attitude and stature. The sex-Link hen and the bantam rooster seem to spend...

Haha good tip!! I have reached my hand in to pet them when i close the coop door for the night., and i cant believe how much heat they produce. They always seem soo warm and snuggled together. That'll be a good thing when they see their first winter lol!

Hello, new chicken owner in Canada!

Thanks for the reply :) If I'm being honest, I'm not sure which breeds I have. I bought two bantams from a lady who said that they were a barnyard mix. They're both beautiful little birds. One black (silkie mix?) and one white and black speckled rooster.. hes recently started working on a...
