I thought about quoting the City codes for them. Especially since he’s a police officer. There has to be something about it. Our city codes are hard to navigate.
The problem is my moms chicken math put her over the allowed amount of birds so I don’t want her to get in trouble.
A coop without a door, What’s the point? Ugh. My son’s in-laws were the same. “There’s no predators, it’s fine.” Their chickens are all gone now.
There have been some live chickens coming over into my mom’s yard. That’s actually how she got started on her chicken journey. One came to her yard...
This is my biggest fear. Not only does she have her 6+8+4 hens, I moved my coop and integrated my remaining 3 old ladies over there. She needed another coop (chicken math happened, plus its easier to help her if they’re all together.)
My coop is secure like Fort Knox. So I know they’re safe at...
I told her as much as I enjoy her daily carcass pictures, she should sent it to them. She doesn’t think that’s appropriate but giving the circumstances, i think it is.
She also needs to start communicating with the husband. The wife is just ghosting her now.
There is a 5 ft high block wall between them already. Maybe she could add something on top? (Barbed wire comes to mind)
She’s started putting their dead chickens on top of the wall for them to see. Today her dog brought in a chicken head. I told her to put the head on the wall with a note that...
Yes she has. They acknowledged they needed to secure them better but that the chickens don’t want to go in the coop at night. (Coop is hot and not locked up anyway)
They were going to put out some live traps to catch the raccoons but nothings been done yet.
Every time my mom finds a dead...
Hi everyone, my mom has joined the backyard chicken family but doesn’t do much technology so I’ll post on her behalf.
We’ve worked really hard to ensure her chickens have a safe coop and run. Safe from predators and the brutal summer heat.
Her next door neighbors are more relaxed when it comes...
Hi all. I have 3 chickens left from my original flock. They are 4 years old and two of them are laying daily. My other girl (a Barred Rock named Big Mary) hasn’t laid since before winter.
Big Mary goes to the nesting box every other day, sits in there, sings egg songs, but leaves the nest empty...
I know. I wish I could’ve had them send her body for a necropsy. We’ve already spend almost $3,000 on sick animals this month so I didn’t want to even ask my husband about paying for something else.
We had Goldie euthanized last week. The day after we had to put our cat down too. A whole month of nursing sick animals and they died anyway 😩.
I have 3 hens left and I’ve decided to integrate them with my mom’s flock. How long do I need to wait before I’m sure it wasn’t something contagious...
The last few days there’s been no change in Goldie. She just sits in her sling all day munching on spinach and tuna.
Today I was changing her food and bedding and she started thrashing around a little. Idk if her nerves are wigging out or if she’s regaining some feeling and trying to move.
I...
Thanks I actually just made her a sling this morning.
We don’t have any chicken vets near us but my neighbor is a lot more experienced than I am. I’ll check to see what she’s done with ones that need to be put down. I think we’re about to that point.
