    Rescued chicken in nyc

Next week we will take her to a chicken farmer in Long Island. It’s a couple of hours away from us in Brooklyn, but he said he could help us determine her (hopefully) gender!

There may be, but we only moved to this neighborhood in mid July, so we don’t know anyone else nearby with chickens.

Thanks! I sent these two photos and a video of her walking around to along Island Poultry, and the farmer there said she looks pretty healthy. She looooves the feed and grit so hopefully she will continue to improve and in a week we’ll drive out there to get her friends!

    Rescued chicken in nyc

Thanks. I just tried giving her scrambled egg. I have feed coming today. I was thinking of getting her checked by a vet this week and getting her friends by Friday. Would that be too late? I’m just worried that if she’s sick she might get other friends sick.

Thanks! I’m hoping to get her to a vet to get her checked out, her coop arrives today, and I’m trying to find her a friend as well. Does she need only one friend or should I get her two?

    Rescued chicken in nyc

hello! Our dog found a chicken on the side of our busy street last night. It’s a bit insane as we live in Brooklyn and chicken farming isn’t the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of nyc. She was alone and pretty docile and looked on the verge of walking straight into traffic so we...

    Hello!

Ah thanks so much! It might work then. Our terrace is actually quite large- about 900 square feet, and is the roof of the apartment below us. We garden quite a bit up there with these giant containers we built. I know it all sounds crazy! And we have a giant compost bin out there too. We’re as...

    Hello!

Ah ok! What material do you recommend for the run? Is dirt the best? I was thinking of a mille fluer d’uccle, a porcelain d’uccle and a silkie. Would those bantams work?
