Some sad news: Rosie flew off yesterday and hasn’t been back for over 24 hours. I am waiting to hear from Oregon Fish and Wildlife on what to do with the eggs, which most likely are not viable.
Rosie is a very special mallard who is well loved by the residents at my senior living community.
She has nested on the third floor roof garden successfully for the past three years.
Rosie has been injured and it looks like her leg is broken. She is very determined to sit on the nest where she...
I’m curious… who did you get to band the ducks and did you do it when they were just babies?
We have mallards that return to nest year after year in the same spot and since they all look the same, we have no idea if it’s the same one or maybe one of the babies from the year before.

She is very determined and is sitting on the nest and I am giving her food and water so we’re hoping that maybe she can...

Unfortunately, this Mallard has...
Thank you! I have talked to fish and wildlife and the Audubon people here in Portland. Because of the bird flu, they will not take any adult wild birds. They will take ducklings.
Because this duck is injured, we are concerned that she may not make it through the incubation period of 25 to 28...
I’m wondering if anyone can refer me to a site where I could get advice on an injured female mallard who is sitting on a nest of 10 eggs on the third floor of an apartment building in Portland, Oregon.
