    Not quite new!

@Rillowen Yes, I have been exploring Dorkings for a while. There are a few places here in the west to look- oregon and arizona but I am in no hurry. I do want to find the best quality Dorking roo I can, so I will keep watching! I have ordered my Light Sussex from Cackle, due to come in about a...

Has anyone successfully used little giant auto water with rain barrel system?

Thinking of doing this when my coop is complete. I will eventually add a small rainbarrel which can start with a hose to a bucket and nipples, then I would like to convert it so nipples are fed automatically from a PVC pipe system. If the rainbarrel is raised higher than the nipple pipe then...

Fulltime fermented feed effects on lifespan

Interesting that a Google search reveals that the oldest chicken ever recorded was 21.5 years. Recently another was 21, current record holder was 14 in 2025 and is apparently still going. Note that all these seem to be "house chickens" LOL

    Large run building help

If possible hawks are your only predator, you might consider covered arches. I am planning on a frame of EMT arches and cattle panels & light fencing over the top. Look at the MakerPipe YT channel for more ideas; either temporary or permanent installations can be designed. Each 10 ft piece of...

I watched the videos that show McMurray hatchery and was very impressed at their operation. (I last worked in a food production plant as...

    The Dorking Breeders thread

Thanks for that! I got it to work by killing my VPN if that helps anyone... Everything there looks to be 10 years old now, but still I hope the pictures will open and a few links on the forum will work. I was able to download most of the standards, but not the White Dorking.

Has anyone ordered from Sandhill Preservation?

No excuse for that bounced refund check though! I will certainly be looking elsewhere. Thanks, y'all:clap

where to store eggs before incubation

Ah, I was in England last summer and wondered how you could do that. I assumed it was a quick transport and tracking thing. I didn't know there was a salmonella vax. Why don't we do that in America? If commercial flocks get other vax, why not??

    Not quite new!

Hey there again, all! 4 years ago or so I joined because I had been adopted by a neighborhood chicken that preferred to live her life in my yard. I enjoyed having her around very much, but she passed away. Now I am retired and done with travelling adventures and would like to establish my own...
