I am a realtor in beautiful South Lake Tahoe. I also volunteer at the Wildlife Center, Humane Society, Food Bank and South Tahoe Environmental Education Coalition.
I have wanted to be a chicken parent for many years but it's not easy in my area due to many predators/heavy snow plus my husband has been less than receptive to the idea. I want and need his help and support - he's a contractor after all!
I've been doing much research by listening to other chicken owners in my area and chicken keepers from all over the world via groups like this, podcasts ("Online Chicken School" was the best!), websites, books, magazines, facebook pages and getting some hands-on experience helping with my in-laws chickens (my chickens-in-law?). I am intrigued by some new or more affordable products which make chicken keeping a little easier (Auto Coop Door, predator deterrents, radiant heaters, etc).
My husband has indicated he would be willing to help next spring so I think it's going to happen in 2019! I still need to get some concrete and convincing words from him but it's looking good!
