    26 week old Australorps

Don’t have fake eggs but have golf balls, will that work? I do have a nesting box outside their coop in their run filled with soft hay and half of it is all dark. It’s coming into winter fast here in South Australia so thought they might not get going till spring arrives….but then again they may...

    26 week old Australorps

Howdy, I have 4 australorps who have just turned 26 weeks. Still no eggs out of all 4. They are healthy and have really red wattles and combs. 2 weeks ago 2 of my girls started “squatting” when I was near by and today one of the girls keeps going in and out of the coop. Does this mean she’s...

Help! I think I might overdosed on ivermectin

Please help. I misread the ivermectin dose for my flock of .1ml to 1ml on each chicken. I’m really freaking out that they may have gotten too much. I feel extremely bad and only gave it to them 2 hours ago. I’m not sure if I’ve killed my girls. It was a topical treatment. What do I do? Feeling...

Haha yes it was dusk when I was holding her. I scratch her head and neck and she started purring. Was a bit shocked at first. Like what is this?

    Chicken purring

Hi chicky lovers, so my australorp pullets have only been with us for 2 weeks. They follow me around while I’m in the garden and they are free ranging. I picked one up inside their coop tonight and patted it: it started purring. I had a look online and it’s giving me conflicting info. Does that...

    New chicken mum of Australorps

Hello from South Australia. I’m a new chicken mum of 4 beautiful Australorp pullets (approx 15 weeks old). I’m a bit concerned they aren’t eating enough grower feed. They are free range and scratch around all day eating bugs and greenery. I give them mealworms and corn in the mornings and...
